While some parts of the country are currently experiencing severe heatwave conditions, the latest forecast from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that isolated pockets in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh will continue to experience heatwave conditions over the next 5 days.

Additionally, heatwave conditions are expected in south Haryana, south Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, and Odisha from June 11-13, and in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Vidarbha, and Telangana on June 11-12, according to the update issued on Sunday at 4:30 pm.

IMD Scientist Naresh Kumar has issued an orange alert for Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal due to prevailing heatwave conditions in these regions. He also mentioned that Andhra Pradesh can expect a severe heatwave with temperatures rising 6.5 degrees above normal.

Regarding the North-West and Rajasthan, which are typically prone to heatwaves, there is no expected intensity in the region this time. However, a heatwave is anticipated in southern Uttar Pradesh, NCR Delhi, and South Haryana for the next 2 to 3 days at isolated places. Precautionary heatwave warnings have been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR, and Haryana for the next three days.

In response to the heatwave conditions, all schools in Jharkhand will be closed for three days starting from today (Monday) due to maximum temperatures ranging from 38-44°C.

Similarly, all categories of schools in the state of Jharkhand will remain closed from June 12 to June 14 as a result of extreme heat and heatwave conditions, as stated in an order issued by the secretary of school education and literacy department, K Ravi Kumar.

Furthermore, in Bihar, academic activities have been restricted up to Class 12 from June 12-18 due to the extreme heatwave.
