Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas along the coastline of Gujarat after the cyclone. He reiterated the state government’s claim that “not a single life was lost” due to the administration’s preparedness.

Shah addressed the media in Bhuj and assured that electricity will be “completely restored” in the affected areas by June 20 evening.

Accompanied by the Gujarat CM, Shah undertook the aerial survey and stated, “I have conducted a survey right from the starting point of the landfall.” He praised the successful handling of the cyclone, noting that no human life was lost and only 47 persons were injured, with none of the injuries resulting in permanent disabilities. He also mentioned that only 234 domestic animals were killed in the cyclone.

Gujarat has a coastline of 1,600 kms, and Shah highlighted that this is the first time the loss of property in a cyclone has decreased by 98 percent, calling it a record.

Crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah emphasized the Prime Minister’s awareness of the situations during cyclones in Gujarat and his involvement in monitoring preparations and issuing directions to minimize casualties. He also emphasized the government’s commitment to disaster resistance and management, as well as the efforts to ensure zero casualties during disasters under the leadership of PM Modi.

Shah also visited pregnant women who had been shifted to hospitals as part of the pre-cyclone preparations.
