Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that if Narendra Modi had been the Prime Minister during Independence, the Sikh shrines of Kartarpur Sahib and Nankana Sahib would have been part of India. He mentioned this while addressing a poll rally in Ferozepur, highlighting that it was Modi who finally fulfilled the long-standing demand to open the Kartarpur Sahib corridor.

“If Modi had been the Prime Minister at the time of Independence, Kartarpur Sahib and Nankana Sahib would have been part of India instead of going to Pakistan,” Shah said.

Kartarpur Sahib is where Guru Nanak Dev is laid to rest, while Nankana Sahib is the birthplace of the Sikhism founder.

Shah’s comments came on the same day when Modi, speaking at a poll rally in Pathankot, criticized the Congress for failing to retain Kartarpur Sahib within India during Partition. He lamented the missed opportunities during the wars with Pakistan in 1965 and 1971 to reclaim Kartarpur Sahib.

Shah also mentioned that some projects, delayed due to a security breach during the PM’s visit to Punjab on January 5, will now be digitally inaugurated before Baisakhi.

Accusing the Chief Minister of failing to secure the PM’s route, Shah alleged that the Congress deliberately obstructed the PM’s visit. He claimed that hired goons tried to prevent the PM from interacting with the people and announcing development projects.

Under Modi’s leadership since 2014, India has retaliated against Pakistani terrorists with surgical strikes and air strikes, in contrast to previous incidents of attacks and beheadings of soldiers going unpunished.

Shah emphasized that only the BJP can eradicate the drug problem in Punjab, criticizing both the Akali Dal and Congress for failing to address the issue. He promised the mothers of Punjab that under Modi’s leadership, the youth will be protected from the drug epidemic.

Shah visited Ferozepur to support party candidates Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi and Gurparvaz Singh, who are contesting in the upcoming elections.
