Upon her arrival in New Delhi on Monday, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wasted no time in meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to discuss important bilateral issues, according to sources.

After the meeting, Jaishankar tweeted, “Delighted to meet with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh this evening. The frequent high-level interactions between our leaders demonstrate our strong partnership as close neighbors.”

During her four-day trip to India, Hasina is scheduled to meet with the Prime Minister on Tuesday to address topics such as trade, connectivity, and defense.

India and Bangladesh are expected to sign agreements on various areas of cooperation, including water sharing on the Kushiyara river, training and IT collaboration in Railways, as well as science, space, and media cooperation.

Upon her arrival, Hasina was greeted at the airport by Union Minister of State Darshana Jardosh. In a tweet, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi highlighted the visit as an opportunity to enhance the relationship between the two countries.

Later in the week, Hasina will visit Moinuddin Chishti’s dargah in Ajmer. She will also meet with President [Name] and Vice President [Name] during her visit, accompanied by senior ministers.

An official emphasized the importance of Bangladesh as a key partner in India’s ‘Neighborhood First’ policy, highlighting cooperation in various fields such as security, trade, commerce, energy, transportation, science, technology, defense, rivers, and maritime affairs.
