Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Sunday that ISRO’s recent successful mission to place 36 satellites in orbit has opened up new opportunities for India, positioning it as a major player in the global commercial space market. During his monthly “Mann Ki Baat” radio broadcast, Modi highlighted India’s achievements in space and solar technology, surprising the world with its advancements in these fields.

On October 23, ISRO successfully launched 36 broadband satellites for a UK-based customer, solidifying India’s position in the global commercial market. Modi described this achievement as a “special Diwali gift from our youth” that will enhance digital connectivity across India, even in remote areas.

Reflecting on India’s past struggles to acquire Cryogenic Rocket Technology, Modi praised the country’s scientists for developing indigenous technology that now allows for the simultaneous launch of multiple satellites. He also highlighted the importance of IN-SPACe, an autonomous agency announced in June 2020, which aims to revolutionize the space sector by facilitating private entities’ access to ISRO facilities.

Previously limited to government systems, India’s space sector is now open to the country’s youth, leading to revolutionary changes. Modi encouraged startups and innovators to seize the vast opportunities emerging in India’s space sector.
