Union Home Minister Amit Shah engaged in an interaction on Wednesday with 200 tribal youth as part of the Tribal Youth Exchange Program (TYEP), urging them to play a vital role in eliminating the concept of naxalism from the country. He emphasized that this ideology is detrimental to development and a bright future.

Shah also emphasized that Left-Wing Extremists (LWEs) and their ideology are opposed to the country’s development and bright future. He highlighted the Prime Minister’s decision to construct 10 tribal museums across the country, costing Rs 200 crore, in honor of tribal freedom fighters.

During the interaction, Shah pointed out that although there are numerous opportunities available for the tribal community, naxalism is hindering their path to a brighter future. He emphasized that violence cannot create jobs and stressed the importance of integrating into mainstream society for development and the establishment of basic infrastructure.

He also stressed the responsibility of tribal youth to guide others away from the wrong path, promoting the message that the country is making progress in all areas and offering ample opportunities for everyone.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has been organizing the TYEP for 15 years in partnership with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, taking young men and women from the tribal community in the most affected areas by LWE on tours to major cities and metros across the country.

This year, 5,000 young men and women are participating in TYEP, with three groups visiting New Delhi. The first group, consisting of 140 participants from Bijapur, Sukma, Dantewada, Narayanpur, and 60 participants from Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, is visiting Delhi from October 15–21.
