A total of 31 agenda items were discussed at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Chandigarh on Monday. Khattar reiterated the government’s commitment to providing employment for Agniveers, stating that those returning after four years of service in the defense under the Central Government’s recruitment scheme will be sought after by both the government and the private sector.

“As citizens, they are returning with valuable training and skills, along with Rs 10-15 lakh. By recruiting them in the police department, we can save 9 to 12 months of training. Their service in the Army instills a sense of patriotism in them, and many can resume their studies upon their return. We should provide more facilities for Agniveers,” the CM stated.

In addition to other decisions, the Cabinet approved an e-vehicle policy and decided to renegotiate power-purchase agreements related to coal quotas with electricity companies. The limit on imported coal quotas was reduced from 30% to 17%.

Regarding the location for the new Vidhan Sabha, Khattar mentioned that the process is ongoing to select the best site. The Cabinet also agreed to link old-age pension with the Parivar-Pehchan-Patra scheme, simplifying the process for beneficiaries. The Startup policy of 2022 was approved to support startups in the state, with over 5,000 currently operational in Haryana.

A separate law will be enacted for 600 unauthorized colonies outside municipal areas, out of around 2,000 in Haryana. A new bill will be introduced in the next session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha. Additionally, the state government will manage a temple in Rohtak’s Beri, with a separate board established for this purpose.

Regarding the law and order situation in Punjab, Khattar emphasized the need for collaboration to maintain peace, especially given Punjab’s proximity to Haryana. He assured that Haryana is fully capable of handling any situation that may arise.
