In a Twitter exchange between Shashi Tharoor and Ramdas Athawale, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) became the unintended target.
The incident began when the Congress MP from Kerala shared a photo of the Union Finance Minister responding to the discussion on the 2022 budget, with Union Minister Ramdas Athawale visible in the background. Tharoor noted the Minister’s surprised expression, suggesting that even the government couldn’t believe the Finance Minister’s claims about the economy and her Budget.
“It’s not ‘Bydget’ but BUDGET.”
And it’s not ‘rely’ but ‘reply’!
Understood!
In response to Tharoor’s tweet, Athawale, pointing out Tharoor’s spelling errors, commented, “Dear Shashi Tharoor ji, they say one is bound to make mistakes while making unnecessary claims and statements.”
Tharoor then brought JNU into the conversation while admitting his mistake. Referencing a recent press release from Santishree Dhulipadi Pandit that had grammatical errors, Tharoor stated, “Careless typing is a bigger sin than bad English! But while you are on a roll, there’s someone at JNU who could benefit from your tuition.”
