India reported 4,041 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday, bringing the country’s total to 4,31,68,585, according to data released by the Union Health Ministry at 8 am on Friday. This marks the first time in over 80 days that daily infections have exceeded 4,000.

On the same day, India also recorded 10 deaths, bringing the total death toll to 5,24,651, as per health ministry data.

Currently, there are 21,177 active cases in the country, accounting for 0.04% of total infections, with a national recovery rate of 98.74%.

The daily positivity rate stands at 0.60%, while the weekly positivity rate is 0.56%, according to the health ministry.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported over 1,000 Covid-19 cases for the second consecutive day on Thursday. The state recorded 1,048 new cases, with Mumbai alone accounting for 704 cases, or 67% of the total cases in Maharashtra. Pune, on the other hand, reported 373 new cases and two deaths on the same day, with a slight decrease from the previous day’s 739 infections.
