India admitted on Friday that a technical malfunction caused the accidental firing of a missile on Wednesday. The Ministry of Defence expressed regret and relief that there were no casualties, and announced a Court of Inquiry. Neither India nor Pakistan identified the missile.

Pakistan summoned the Indian envoy in Islamabad to protest and called for a transparent investigation. According to a PTI report, Pakistan accused India of violating its airspace with a supersonic flying object from Suratgarh, which fell near Mian Channu in Pakistan.

In a statement, the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi stated that a missile was accidentally fired during routine maintenance, leading to the incident. A Court of Enquiry has been ordered by the Government of India. Pakistan claimed the missile originated from Sirsa and landed in Pakistani territory.

No communication was made between the Directors General of Military Operations. Pakistan stated that a flying object entered its airspace from India, changing course towards Pakistan. Pakistan alleged the missile was initially headed for India but diverted towards Pakistan.
