Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized the increasing use of drones in various sectors such as agriculture, defense, disaster management, and sports, stating that India has the potential to become a global hub for drone technology. He believes that the drone industry will be a significant source of employment in India and will revolutionize the way services are delivered to the public, including government services.

During the Bharat Drone Mahotsav event, Modi expressed his optimism about the widespread adoption of drones in India across different fields. He described drones as versatile tools that would become integral to everyday life for ordinary Indians, whether in agriculture, sports, media, or the film industry. He anticipated a greater use of drone technology in the future.

PM Modi commended the enthusiasm shown in India towards drone technology, noting the rapid growth of the drone service and industry in the country. He highlighted the potential for creating a large number of jobs in this emerging sector.

Modi also highlighted the PM Swamitva Yojana, a project aimed at digitally mapping land using drones and providing land title deeds to property owners. He described drones as the catalyst for a major revolution, enabling the digital mapping of every property in rural areas and issuing digital property cards. Over 6.5 million property cards have already been distributed under this scheme.

At the drone exhibition, Modi launched 150 remote pilot certificates and engaged with drone pilots, startups, and witnessed drone demonstrations. He emphasized the crucial role that drones will play in delivering healthcare services efficiently and quickly, particularly in remote areas.

The Prime Minister mentioned the government’s efforts to streamline drone regulations and boost manufacturing in the sector. He highlighted the removal of previous restrictions on drones and the introduction of new rules to encourage manufacturing, including the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme with an initial allocation of Rs 120 crore over three years. Notable entities selected under the scheme include Adani’s joint venture with Israeli defense firm Elbit Systems, IdeaForge Technology, and Omnipresent Robot Technologies, supported by Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath.
