India Weather Update, August 26: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will conduct an aerial survey of areas severely affected by heavy rains in the state and meet with the affected people on Thursday. The survey will cover the rain-hit areas of Bundi, Kota, Baran, and Jhalawar districts. He will also visit affected individuals in Kota, Anta (Baran), and Jhalawar, as per an official spokesperson.

The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted decreased rainfall in Northwest India for the next 5 days and in Central India for the next 3 days. Heavy rainfall is expected in East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Northeast India on August 27 and 28. A well-marked low-pressure area has been identified over east Rajasthan and northwest Madhya Pradesh, now moving towards southwest Rajasthan. This system is likely to bring widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy downpours and thunderstorms/lightning on August 26 and 27, extending to East Madhya Pradesh on August 27 and 28.

Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are forecasted to receive fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms today. Odisha, East Uttar Pradesh, SubHimalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim can expect rain from August 26 to 28. Southern India may also experience widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms/lightning. South Interior Karnataka will receive rain until August 27, while Tamil Nadu and Kerala are expected to experience rainfall until August 28.
