For the first time, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct the multi-tasking (non-technical) staff examination-2022 in 13 regional languages along with Hindi and English.

The 13 languages include Urdu, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Konkani, Manipuri (also Meiti), Marathi, Odia, and Punjabi.

SSC is responsible for recruitment processes for Group B (non-gazetted) and Group C (non-technical) positions in various Central ministries/departments.

This decision aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of providing equal opportunities to all job seekers and ensuring that no one faces disadvantages due to language barriers, according to Union Minister of State for Personnel, Jitendra Singh.

This move addresses the longstanding request from candidates across different states, especially in south India, as exams were previously only conducted in English and Hindi.

Singh hailed this as a significant step and mentioned ongoing efforts to gradually include all languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

He emphasized SSC’s commitment to creating a fair playing field for all population segments, reducing regional disparities, and upholding the Constitution’s principles while celebrating the linguistic diversity of India.

To review the examination scheme and syllabus, the Department of Personnel and Training has formed an expert committee, as per the minister.
